In Vanuatu, language is the first identity of an individual.

With over one hundred vernacular languages spoken by over three hundred thousand people in an archipelago of eighty three islands, Vanuatu is unique in its linguistic diversity. These local languages are part of the national heritage, as per Article 3(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Vanuatu. In addition, the three (3) official languages stipulated in Article 3(1) of the Constitution are; Bislama, English and French languages.

Language services delivery are increasing in the education and training sector, cultural sector, Government services, media and enforcement of language provisions.
